I’m in New York for a very quick trip to the NBC Sports mothership. Actually up to Stamford, Connecticut. I’ve never had bad experiences in New York, even if it’s not necessarily my speed. The logistics of this place, however, have varied from mildly annoying to somewhat difficult in my personal, Midwestern experience.
Today, however, the gods are smiling on me:
- My flight landed fifteen minutes early and we did not have to wait for a gate to open.
- It seemed like no one was at the airport. There was no line at the cab stand.
- Traffic into Manhattan seemed light and we made it to Grand Central Station super fast.
- I walked into the station to find that a New Haven line train was leaving in seven minutes. An express, no less. Got my ticket, got a coffee and still made it to the train with a couple minutes to spare. I got a seat that I did not have to share with anyone.
- My room at my hotel was ready, they gave me an upgrade for no particular reason and the WiFi here is fast. I now have an hour to chill before food and drinks with co-workers.
The rapture didn’t happen while I was flying, did it? If not, I’m at least buying a lottery ticket.
